Mulu Ultra Trail (MUT) Rules and Regulations
The guiding principles of the race are fairness and equality of competition,
consideration for fellow competitors, marshalls, the local population, and the
environment. These principles aim to ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable event for
everyone involved.
- All participants must register online by providing their name, NRIC/Passport
number, gender, contact number, email address, and emergency contact
details.
- Upon successful registration, each participant will receive a confirmation slip
via email. The confirmation slip serves as the only valid evidence of
registration. All participants are required to present their respective
confirmation slips and, or identity card and; or passports during Race Entry
Pack Collection Day.
- The Event is open to participants who are 18 years of age and above. Age is
calculated based on 14 th June 2025.
- Participants must place their race bibs facing forward, prominently as high as
possible on the front of their Running Tee. Do not place your race bib on the
side of your hips, on your back, or tucked away in your jacket. Runners found
without their race bib numbers may be penalized or disqualified. Please ensure
that the race bib number is visible.
- Tampering with the race bib in any way (e.g. obscuring/removing the sponsor’s
identification) will result in your disqualification. The organizer shall
immediately disqualify any participants if this rule is not strictly observed.
- A runner is not allowed to be supported by any 3 rd Party or participant to the
race, other than at the Checkpoints/ Water Stations provided by the organizer
along the course.
- If you withdraw from the race, you must report to the closest checkpoint. This
will ensure that you will be safely removed from the race course and
transported back to the race venue.
- If you need First Aid assistance on the course, you must contact the
emergency number which will be provided to you during the Race Briefing on
13 th June 2025 as stipulated in the EVENT GUIDE to be shared prior to race
weekend.
- You must carry your own mandatory gear at all times during the race. Random
gear checks will be conducted during the race. Runners without mandatory
items will not be able to proceed until they arrange for the missing items to be
replaced.
- You must obey the instructions given by checkpoint officials, or course “Trail
Masters” and withdraw from the race if you miss any cut-off time at the
checkpoint or on the course.
- Littering is prohibited. Kindly dispose of all litter at the nearest checkpoint.
- Please respect the locals and their culture.
- Do not leave any human feces on the track. If you need to poo, use a toilet, a
wag bag or get off track and “Leave No Trace”.
- You must obey any information signs and markers along the race course.
- Leave the gates as you find them. If closed, you may open the gate to pass
through but please ensure that you close them back after you.
- The organizer reserves the right to discourage and/or penalize behaviour that
is considered unsporting.
- The organizer reserves the right to postpone or cancel or suspend the race for
any reason it deems fit to do so.
- The Organizers reserves the right to delay, bring forward, modify the race
course, or alter cut-off times if safety becomes an issue. The Organizers can
cancel, postpone, or move the event date if necessary without any refund of
fees paid and the Organizers shall not be liable for any direct and indirect loss
or inconvenience sustained and incurred or to be sustained and incurred as a
result of or arising out of the cancellation.
- Once registration has been duly processed, there shall be no refund for
whatsoever reason.
- Participants are not allow from swapping, selling, or transferring race
slots/entries/bibs without the Organizers' permission.
- Documents Required for REPC
- 21.1 Confirmation slip
Note: We encourage a paperless environment. Hence, a confirmation slip
displayed through mobile/smartphone at the REPC counter will suffice.
- 21.2 Participant can also produce National Registration Identity Card
(Malaysian) or Passport with a confirmation slip for verification during
REPC.
- 21.3 Please note that race entry packs will not be issued on event day unless
the organizer is informed in advance. This is to ensure that there is no
disruption to the preparation of the race.
- 21.4 Kindly note that the registered participant is required to collect his/ her
own Race Entry Pack. You are not allowed to collect Race Entry Pack on
behalf of other runners.
- Data and Privacy:
- 22.1 The Organizers reserves the right to use participants' data received from
registration to share marketing and race-related materials.
- 22.2 The Organizers reserves the right to use participants' photographs,
motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records of MUT, for any
legitimate purpose including commercial advertising and distribution to
Sponsors anywhere in the world.
- Legal and Liability:
- 23.1 Participants agree that Organizers and sponsors are not responsible for
any loss or damage to property during the event. Supervised baggage
storage will be provided.
- 23.2 Participants agree that Organizers shall not be held responsible or liable
for any injury or death arising from training in preparation for the event
and/or participating during the event.
- 23.3 Participants are advised to go for medical check-up and/or in consultation
with their medical practitioner prior to registration and/or at any time from
the date of registration till event day to satisfy himself/herself of his/her
mental and physical fitness in participating in the event.
- Participants must agree to abide by the Organizers adjudication, which is
final.
Getting to Gunung Mulu National Park
Gunung Mulu National Park, located in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the island
of Borneo, is a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its incredible biodiversity,
stunning landscapes, and intricate cave systems. Established in 1974 and covering
an area of 52,864 hectares, the park is named after Mount Mulu, which stands at
2,377 meters and is one of the park’s most prominent features. This park is a
premier destination for ecotourism and adventure, attracting scientists, spelunkers,
and nature enthusiasts from around the world.
By Air:
To reach Gunung Mulu National Park by direct flights, here are the options available:
1. Direct Flights to Mulu from Miri
Miri is the primary gateway to Mulu, and direct flights from Miri to Mulu are frequent.

Traveling from Kuala Lumpur to GunuMulu National Park
As Kuala Lumpur (KL) is the main entry hub into Malaysia, here’s how you can travel
from Kuala Lumpur to Mulu National Park:
1. Fly from Kuala Lumpur to Borneo
You need to fly from Kuala Lumpur to one of the major airports in Borneo that offer
onward flights to Mulu. These airports are Miri, Kuching, or Kota Kinabalu.
